This
is a better view of the details of the blouse and skirt previously described.
As you can see it was a glorious day when we were wearing these in July
1995. If you are afraid they are excessively warm, let me calm your fears.
The petticoats help to hold the skirts away from your legs and allow for
a pleasant movement of air. The large sleeves and full bodices also allow
for a cooling flow of air. The choice of fabrics and colors however will
affect how comfortable the garment will be to wear. As for footwear we
tend towards shoes that are safe to walk in as well as non-damaging to
the finish on the boats. I do own a couple pairs that are more authentic
and less appropriate for boating. If you are looking for a modern fit with
an authentic look, I would recommend Peter Fox in New York City, they produce
beautiful shoes and boots.
