The
bathing suit on our daughter, Lindsey was originally made for me by my
mother when we first got involved in antique boating. Times have changed
and now I do the production work for Lindsey, my sister and mother. I am
wearing a reproduction of a Gibson girl blouse with 15 yards of inset lace
and pintucking. The blouse has balloon sleeves that can be elbow length
or full length. The insets are on both the sleeves and the bodice. The
bodice is full and gathers in with ties that start in the back and can
be tied in the front. The stand up lace collar is starched. The blouse
has hook and eye closures on the back. This blouse is made in muslin, for
ease in cleaning. There are many options in selecting fabric for both the
blouse and the skirt. The skirt is a navy blue walking skirt over two petticoats.
The skirt has black braid for trim and a zipper in the back for conveinence.
Hooks and eyes or buttons would be more authentic. Pricing for this garment
will be determined by fabric choice and desired levels of trim. You
can see these are usable designs, as this is the outfit I am wearing while
rowing (picture on front page).
